VISION
“The inspiration to form Doorway Arts Ensemble emerged from my personal experiences developing and honing my artistic skills in my community's theater and film industry. While finding my way in this challenging but rewarding business, my journey triggered a passion for providing a doorway for other artists like myself.  Gathering a team of talented and supportive board members and friends, Doorway Arts Ensemble was formed.”-Founder/ Producing Artistic Director, Claire Myles

MISSION
Doorway Arts Ensemble provides an artistic entrance and platform for exceptional talent. We work to develop and support a theater company that champions the production of new plays written by the best and most promising contemporary playwrights, spotlighting new theater talent throughout the Washington, DC metro area. DAE also opens doors for the community by providing opportunities for a diverse audience to experience new works, offered as free events and at affordable ticket prices in venues throughout Montgomery Co and Washington, DC.

ACTION
Through staged readings and theatrical productions that bring unique, provocative and socially relevant work to our community, Doorway Arts provides;

• An opportunity to experience the vibrant talent of a diverse, multigenerational group of Washington DC Metro area professional theater artists.
• A showcase platform that demonstrates with each new team of artists a multidisciplinary
  and collaborative ensemble approach that brings a unique perspective to existing and
  new works, utilizing multi-ethnic and non-traditional casting whenever possible. 
• Opportunities for feedback and discussions of our shared experiences as audience members at our theater events.

With our story, team, vision and community, we press on, accepting that great art has no beginning, middle or end because great artists are always pushing through the next doorway.

STAFF

Claire Myles is the Founder, President of the Board of Directors and Producing Artistic Director of Doorway Arts Ensemble. She has been active in the theater arts community throughout the Baltimore/Washington, DC metropolitan area for the past seven years. Ms. Myles has experience in commercial, theater, film acting and has assisted in producing and stage managing professional theater. She has studied acting through Studio Theater Acting Conservatory, Theater Lab, The Shakespeare Theatre and with a variety of professional acting coaches in the area. She is also an active member of the DC metro area non-profit organization, The Actors' Center.
